Where are the most affordable places to rent and the least affordable places to rent in the UK?
Recent research has found that just 16 cities in England are affordable to rent in!
Experts advise that, to maintain an adequate standard of living, tenants shouldn’t spend more than 30% of their gross income salary on rent.
After using average rental price data and average income salary for cities, Durham is the most affordable city to rent a property in for the second year running! In 2019 just 23% of your monthly salary would go towards rent in Durham. In 2020, Durham became even more affordable with just 21% of your salary, needed on average to secure a rental property in the city.
In 2019, Brighton was the UK’s most unaffordable city to rent in. This year, Oxford tops the charts, with a 66% of your salary needed to afford rent on average.
